Some of us have journaled our experiences when training or working with our dogs. We are including links to these blogs for your information. GDUWS is not responsible for any of the content included on the blogs.

We hope that by reading these entries you will increase your knowledge of what is involved in the training process. It is stressful at times as we leave our homes and usual activities. We go to join with others in a boarding school setting with the hope of partnering with a dog to enhance our mobility and independence. A lot is at stake for us. The schools work hard to make it the best possible experience for all, but it is difficult at times. It has been described as an emotional rollercoaster ride. The process of learning to trust our dogs in the details of the guide work and as we learn how to manage every aspect of their care is demanding, but so very rewarding. The bond that develops between each of us and the dog that is our partner is incredible, becoming stronger with each year we are together.
